this is a matter of opinion. simple opinion: one person says Germany is new totalitarian. That is Mr. Hopkins. There is a lot of evidence for that. So, C J Hopkins is merely guilty of seeing the totalitarians coming from a long way off --- or, he is just deluded. ON the other hand, the other guy says (his mere opinion) no, all is well. People are just doing their jobs, all is normal. Pretty much you can believe either one you wish to. The argument that the police and prosecutors are robotic, or that they simply accepting any accusation as valid, seem a bit off. No police force would automatically believe that any accusation must be treated as a likely crime. So, at this point it is a matter of opinion. One side says Germany is "new normal" and reverting to a Nazi-style of policy and the other says Germany is not like that at all! They are nice guys doing a very correct and proper job of being the state. No kind of totalitarians at all. Just good Germans! It is just a simple matter of opinion. Go read my newsletter now, you putrid lazy pro-Germany slobs.
I didn't say anybody was robotic or that the police would accept *any* accusation. I simply explained how our legal system works. Or any legal system in a Western democracy, for that matter. It works exactly the same in the US or the Commonwealth (hence the famous "Don't Talk to the Police" lecture by James Duane).
If you have any arguments why the police or the DA would not see these tweets as reasonable evidence of a possible/prosecutable crime under current German law, then let's hear them. Otherwise, stop wasting all our time.
And no, I will not read a newsletter by someone who insults me for no reason. Especially if it's as blatantly baseless an insult as your scribblings. Anybody who's read my articles knows I am far from pro-German and, generally, pretty much in agreement with Hopkins on many things he said. I just don't agree with his methods here and think he was stupidly asking for trouble and hurting his argument.
I don't have a side. I simply explained the law and its consequences. Feel free to point out any factual errors in my writing. But if you're simply here to be disagreeable and insult people, you're wasting everyone's time.
Nice. I'm looking forward to your thoughts. I don't have a Nikon, was toying with the idea of one of those 'classic' models though, as I like the bedienkonzept.
I had Fuji cameras for the longest time for that reason.
I hope you enjoy the light and am looking forward to updates on that photography section on your website.
I have an F50, a D60 and a D7100. This is my newest camera. The D7100 arguably shoots better pictures, but since Nikon has given up on the F mount, it was time to switch. I chose this camera specifically because it's so small, especially with the fixed lenses available for it (some of them are incredibly short). I also adore the external buttons. I started using this camera in Sweden when it was -18°C in the day and the ability to adjust shutter speed and ISO with some big knobs is priceless! So yeah, the Bedienkonzept (LOL) is amazing. I'm in love.
Nice to see that someone enjoys the photography section. I will push some updates just for you. :)
So you're a Nikon afficionado? The F50 sounds very filmy. Does it still get some action? I would really like to shoot film more or at all (these days). But it's gotten quite expensive and was always time consuming, so I stick to digital as of now.
I inherited my dads' Olympus OM2-n which I used to shoot quite often, when I was at university. After some medium format action with a Mamiya RB67, I sold it (too big, too heavy, but great camera and format) for a cheapish Leica M5. I'm thinking about selling this one as well, since it is sitting on a shelf.
I had digital Fujis, that I really liked, but for now, I have settled on a really old Leica M240 for digital photography.
The M5 was pretty beat up, so not Leica expensive. I think I payed 450. For the m240 it took some time to set the money aside, a tax return and selling all my Fuji gear. But yeah, I get that people can't or don't want to pay that kind of money for a camera.

Of course it's a matter of opinion.

this shows me that your side is wrong. Now I can state it with a greater degree of certainty. Have a nice day (I am outta here for now, okay?)

Not the topic of your post, but I like cameras. Is that the new Nikon Zf? Yours? Could you elaborate on your blog or somewhere else (:
I might blog about it once I have more experience with it. I am very new to mirrorless shooting...
It’s a Nikon Z fc: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikon_Z_fc
It’s not a new model and it’s also not new hardware (I bought it used a few weeks ago).

The F50 was my very first camera. I got it in 1999. It is indeed a film camera. I have been using only Nikon cameras ever since.
Haven't shot film in years. I'd love to, but as it stands, it's hard enough to get around to shooting digital.
Leicas are great. But they're just waaaaaay above my price range.
I've seen the new pictures and am trying to register for your forum. The activation mail hasn't arrived for 2 hours. I checked spam as well (:
Does it take so long normally?
